Our List of the Best Mixer Grinders –
1. Sujata Dynamix DX 900W Mixer Grinder:
Sujata is a brand that not many of us know of. Though it may not be a sophisticated name such as a Bajaj or a Panasonic, their mixer grinders are one of the most powerful and durable ones available out there.
The Dynamix DX model comes with a powerful motor of 900 watts, which can take on any heavy duty grinding task such as making ‘idli/dosa’ batter. It comes with a 3-speed control switch and is capable of grinding foods much faster and finer than regular mixer grinders, thanks to its power and super sharp blades.
You may also be happy to know that the motor can run for 90 minutes continuously in case of large quantities. However, we will not advise you to do this as it could heat up the motor.
The mixer grinder comes with 3 jars – a dome jar for wet grinding and two other stainless steel jars for dry grinding and chutney grinding. If you want a juicer/blender jar, you will need to purchase it separately. That said, the dome jar is good enough for juicing fruits and vegetables.
Fixing the jars onto the base unit is extremely easy. To lock them on, you simply have to turn the jar in a clockwise direction and to get the jar off, you need to do the exact opposite. This means that it offers a safety lock system so the chances of any spills becomes less. The company also claims that this mixer grinder has a ‘vibration free’ operation and is completely ‘shock-proof’.
As far as noise is concerned, many users have reported that this model does make a little noise for a few initial seconds, after which it runs on full RPM. Also note that many buyers have gotten a damaged product after having purchased it online. Therefore, it is advisable to buy this product from a store or an authorized seller.
That said, Sujata outdoes many popular brands and should definitely be considered if you’re looking to get a powerful and high-performance mixer grinder.

2. Preethi Zodiac MG 218 750W Mixer Grinder:
This mixer grinder by Preethi is very well-rated and another one of our favorites. It comes with a Vega W5 motor that can grind foods really fast, thereby saving you time. It has a motor power of 750 watts which is ideal for anyone looking for some serious grinding work.
Now here comes the best part. The Preethi Zodiac MG 218 comes with as many as 5 jars, which increases the functionality of the mixer grinder. 3 of those jars can grind dry as well as wet ingredients. The 4th jar is a 3-in-1 juicer jar that allows you to – i) Extract tamarind juice and coconut milk. ii) Juice fruits or veggies. iii) Make milkshakes or ‘lassi’. The 5th jar, which they call a ‘Master Chef Plus Jar’, acts as a food processor and let’s you knead dough in just a minute, chop vegetables with only 4 pulses, make tomato puree, and mince meat.
This model has a speed controls knob right at the front, with 3 different speeds and an incher. If you’re wondering how long you can keep it running at once, the motor can go on for 30 minutes. What’s more? You get a safety indicator in case of an overload whereby the orange light turns to red. This is the equivalent of an overload protection feature.
In case of any defect or issues with the product, you get a warranty of 5 years on the motor and 2 years on the product.
Since it is a powerful mixer grinder, it does make some noise (up to 80 Db). Also, a few users have complained that this product has a poor build quality and the dough kneading mechanism goes kaput within a few months. Therefore, one must be careful when using the product.
Having said that, it is still a great mixer grinder for the price.

3. Preethi Blue Leaf Diamond 750W Mixer Grinder:
Yet another high-quality mixer grinder by Preethi, this product has the same motor power of 750 watts as the Zodiac MG 218.
The major difference between the two is the number of jars and the design. The Blue Leaf Diamond is L-shaped and comes with 3 jars that you can use for regular grinding of wet and dry ingredients. If you don’t need a food processor and only wish to get a proper juicer jar (known as a super extractor jar) along with an air-tight storage container, you may want to check out the Blue Leaf Platinum model.
Some of the other features include a shock-proof plastic body (made of ABS plastic), an overload protection feature, 3 speed levels and a pulse button, a flexi lid to alter the capacity of a jar in case you’re unsure of the quantities, and stainless steel jars and blades for optimum performance.
All the high points aside, this mixer grinder has been reported to have weak lids and jars that could have cracks and leakage issues within a short period of time. However, you can always purchase the product at a retail store instead of online to be sure about it.

4. Bajaj Rex 500W Mixer Grinder:
When it comes to home appliances, Bajaj seldom disappoints the customers. This 500 watts’ tower-style mixer grinder does the job of liquidizing and grinding both, dry and wet ingredients quite well. However, we would warn you that this mixer grinder isn’t the best for grinding extremely solid foods.
It comes with 3 jars – a big 1.5 liter liquidizing jar (for juicing), a 0.88-liter multi-purpose jar, and a small 0.3-liter jar for making chutneys. You also get a 3-speed switch and an incher that you can choose as per the desired result and texture. Other features include a multi-functional blade system, an LED indicator to tell you when the mixer grinder is in use, a motor overload protector, a rust-proof body, and vacuum feet at the base for a better grip.
The Rex model does make a significant amount of noise. However, it is still lesser compared to a 750-watt mixer grinder. As far as the warranty goes, you get 1 year on the product. Bajaj has an excellent customer service in India so in case you run into any problems, their team would always be prompt and efficient in helping you.
One major issue that we’ve seen across reviews is that the big jar tends to catch onto rust despite the company’s claims. Also, it doesn’t perform as well as the smallest jar. That said, it is very reasonably priced and is perfect for usual grinding tasks.
5. Bajaj Twister 750W Mixer Grinder:
The Bajaj Twister mixer grinder is a more powerful version of the Rex model, with a wattage of 750W and an RPM of 18,000. That means that it can handle heavy-duty grinding tasks with ease. Another difference is that this one is an L-shaped mixer grinder, making it a lot more stable compared to the Rex.
It comes with similar features as the Rex model including 3 jars, a 2-speed rotary switch, vacuum feet, safety lock, and an overload protector. The only extra feature are the 3 polycarbonate domes for the jars to enhance the design while keeping it dust-free.
You get a 5-year warranty on the motor and 2 years’ warranty on the product in case of any problems.
Though this mixer grinder by Bajaj is an excellent product, some users have complained that the online sellers aren’t genuine and have sent 2nd hand or replaced models to them. A few of them have also reported issues related to sparks in the regulator.
We would suggest that you select a highly rated seller in case you’re purchasing online and test out the product if you’re buying it at a store.

6. Panasonic MX-AC400 550W Mixer Grinder:
This one by Panasonic, is an L-shaped mixer grinder that has a duty motor with ‘magic seal protection’. This feature ensures a longer life of the blades by keeping them lubricated. The motor has a power of 550 watts which means that you can grind tough ingredients without it consuming much energy.
This model comes with 4 jars – 3 stainless jars for mixing and grinding dry and wet ingredients, and a durable juicer/blender jar for extracting juices and mincing meat. That said, we would recommend you to get a separate wet grinding jar for making idli/dosa batters.
A few of the other features include ergonomic and sturdy handles, 3-speed levels (piano-style push buttons that we love!) with a pulse switch, and ‘Samurai edge blades’. It also has a dual safety mechanism which prevents the motor from running until the lid and the jar have been fixed properly.
You also get an overload protection feature, or as the company calls it, ‘circuit breaker system’ that shuts off the motor in case the load is too heavy, thereby saving the mixer grinder from any potential damage. Furthermore, Panasonic offers 5 years’ warranty on the motor.
Two major cons of this product as told by several reviewers are – i) The smallest jar’s lid has to be held onto as it is prone to leakage despite the company’s lock system. ii) Panasonic is not the best when it comes to customer service at least when compared to other brands like Bajaj.

7. Bosch TrueMixx Pro 750W Mixer Grinder:
Though a new entrant, Bosch has managed to make some really good mixer grinders while also capturing many eyeballs. The TrueMixx Pro model comes with a powerful HiFlux motor of 750 watts which is capable of some heavy-duty grinding tasks.
This mixer grinder has all the frills as far as accessories go. You get 4 jars – a chutney jar (400 ml capacity), a wet grinding jar that you can use to make pastes and batters, a large blender jar (1500 ml capacity) for juicing fruits/vegetables, and a dry grinding jar (1000 ml capacity) for powdering larger solid ingredients. You also get a spatula for scraping out the contents and a MaxxJuice Extractor for collecting the pulp.
Bosch understands that modern mixer grinders do not provide the same results in terms of taste compared to traditional pounding methods. That’s why, they have come up with a ‘stone pounding technology’ which mimics the pounding method, thereby retaining the authentic texture and taste of the ingredients.
Some of the other salient features are hands-free operation (thanks to sturdy lid-locks and vacuum feet), ‘Active Flow Breaker’ for even grinding and more aeration resulting in finer and fluffier batters, PoundingBlade technology (adding to the stone pounding effect), concealed bush (to prevent any leakage), 30 minutes non-stop grinding, and sturdy nylon couplers (for higher durability).
You get 2 years’ warranty on the product in case of any issues. The only downside of this mixer grinder is that it is slightly expensive compared to the others mentioned on this list.

If you don’t need a heavy-duty mixer grinder and wish to spend as little as possible, then the Kitchen Kraft 500-watts mixer grinder by Orient Electric is a good option.
This mixer grinder performs well as long as you use it for light grinding tasks. You get 3 jars of various sizes, sharp nickel blades, flow breaker feature in the jars, suction feet, 3-speed control with incher, and an overload protection feature to keep the motor safe from any potential harm.
You also get 2 years’ warranty on the motor and the product each.
Though Orient is a lesser known brand, their product does the job well enough. It is compact, affordable, built well, performs efficiently, and has all the necessary features.
The only complaint reported by a few users is that the motor seems to stop working after months of usage. However, you can always get in touch with the company to get this rectified.

10. The Activa 500W Pluto Mixer Grinder (2 jars) – great budget option for light and minimal grinding tasks.
Our Buyer’s Guide –
1. Mixer Grinder Variations & Number Of Jars:
A regular mixer grinder will allow you to grind wet and dry ingredients in two separate jars, each of a different size. The smaller one can be used to grind dry spices or make dry chutneys whereas the larger one can be used to make pastes and batters or grind big, wet ingredients.
Nowadays, you also get an additional jar that is even larger than the aforementioned jars, mainly for the purpose of juicing fruits and veggies. These kind of mixer grinders are called juicer mixer grinders. Basically, you get a two-in-one function so there’s no need to purchase a juicer separately.
Some mixer grinders also come with a food processor which you can use to mince meats, chop veggies, and knead dough.
More the number of jars, greater is the functionality. This will not only save you a few bucks in the long run, but also save you some kitchen space that you will otherwise use to store separate equipment.
That said, you must buy one that is sufficient for your needs. For example, if you don’t make juices on a regular basis, you may want to save your money and opt for a regular mixer grinder.
The power of the motor of a mixer grinder is measured in Watts. Higher the wattage, greater the load capacity of a mixer grinder. Mixer grinders with a higher wattage also do the job faster. That said, a mixer grinder with a higher wattage tends to consume more electricity and is noisier compared to one with a lower wattage.
In India, you’ll find that the wattage of most of the mixer grinders falls within the range of 500W-750W.
If you plan to use the mixer grinder to grind super solid food items or large quantities of food, then it is best to go for a mixer grinder with a wattage of 750W.
If you intend to use the mixer grinder for regular grinding to make masalas, pastes, and chutneys, then you will not need that extra power so a wattage of 400W-550W will be more than enough.
3. Motor Speed:
The speed of the motor is measured in RPM, or ‘Rotations Per Minute’. This refers to the speed at which the motor blade rotates which determines the amount of time a mixer grinder would take to break down the ingredients. Higher the RPM, greater the power of the motor. However, a higher RPM would also mean a greater chance of the motor heating up. Plus, the mixer grinder will also be noisier.
The usual range of RPM is between 5,000 to 22,000. It is recommended that you go for a mixer grinder with low to medium RPM for best grinding results and a longer life of the appliance.
4. Speed Control:
Always choose a mixer grinder with a minimum of 3 speed levels. Reason being, single speed maybe too fast for some food ingredients, resulting in ‘floating’ or incorrect grinding. Also, certain recipes call for a certain texture that you can only get by using various speeds. This factor should not be a problem as majority of the mixer grinders come with multiple speed options.
It is also nice to have a ‘pulse’ button or an ‘incher’ to chop or grind softer foods such as eggs.
Note that it is generally recommended that you start from slower speeds and gradually move onto a faster speed to avoid motor damage and food spillage.
5. Safety Features:
The mixer grinder should have certain safety features in order to avoid any accidents or damage to the appliance. These include a safety lock system, vacuum feet, and an overload protection feature.
The safety lock would ensure that the mixer grinder doesn’t start unless the jar has been lodged into the main body properly. This is extremely important especially if you have kids around and wish to avoid cleaning up the spillages later.
A base with vacuum feet helps to keep the unit in place and prevents it from moving, slipping, or toppling over the counter in case of a heavy load or an uneven surface.
We have tried to keep our list as inclusive as possible to offer you a variety of brands to choose from. Some of the mixer grinders may be noisier than others, some maybe more expensive but perform better, others are more affordable with maybe one or two flaws. What’s important is that you select the one that suits your personal cooking needs instead of looking for the most powerful or feature-rich product.
Here are a few other things that you must keep in mind:
- Any mixer grinder will give off a smell in the first few runs. This because the varnish in the motor gets heated and evaporated.
- When selecting a mixer grinder, do find out if the brand has a local service centers close to where you live. This will be useful if you run into any problems in the future.
- Many users have complained of being delivered damaged products so you should beware of poorly-rated online sellers.
- When operating the mixer grinder especially with heavy or solid ingredients, remember to hold onto the lids as there are chances of leakage and spills. Do this irrespective of the company’s lock-system/hands-free operation claims.
- Always wait for any roasted/cooked ingredients to cool down before you run the mixer grinder otherwise it could damage the jar walls
